Publications
The publications ground our position as an institute of research in an actual research community that does not just remember responsible acts, but also idiosyncratic and empirical gestures for a potential future. Each publication reveals an Indo-American ethical act and concern for the severe realities that form the basis of social, political, and cultural challenges within the region.
We publish not just for scholarship, but to inspire and question new trajectories in documenting plausible solutions to real-world challenges. Out findings often act as a bridge between pure research and practical policy-making, locating local phenomena within a temporal and global discourse.
Thus, we provide multiple publishing outlets in order to reach potential scholars and practitioners in varied and diverse formats throughout their lives: Research Papers, Policy Reports, White Papers, Briefing Papers.
Research Papers
Our research papers are the signature constituency of comprehensive projects of inquiry, to reform governance to sustainable development to cultural heritage to environmental sustainability. Each of these projects are still conceptual and ultimately analytically bound to to enhancing the field of South Asian studies and extending the letter and spirit of what is known.
Policy Reports
Our policy reports are conceptualized as real time challenges related to public policy. Our conceptual intention is to outline viable options in support of interested parties, donor organizations, and governmental departments in the region. Such policy reports are scholarly outcomes designed with a scholarly and social intention to communicate short, digestible and memorable recommendations to in-region leaders.
White Papers
Our white papers can be characterized as efforts to provide policy-relevant answers to questions designed in transparent ways for discussion, debate, and presentation in tradition, formal academic and citizen based policy systems.
Briefing Papers
Our briefing papers derive from emerging issues of discussions and outline a metabolism that needs to be emphasized. These are authoritative pieces constructed for leaders and concrete and nonconcrete policy makers (leaders) as brief, but powerful substantive acts of process.
All of our publications come with an executive summary for quick overview of content and downloadable access. The Research Archive also exists online encompassing the publication of past works and an extremely extensive historical account of the important development, governance, and cultural heritage of South Asia.
These journals express the values of engaged scholarship of the Sundar Singh Institute and social responsibilities, agency, and means to describe a sustainable and just future for South Asia.
